Hello friends new and old, in a previous blog we discussed what exactly Deconstruction is. Today we will talk about the benefits to choosing deconstruction when you decide to do your reno.
1) Environmental Benefits – We all understand that keeping materials out of landfill but what does that really mean? It means no decomposing harmful materials or chemicals leaking into your groundwater. Reduction in pollution in transport and burning of construction materials and has the additional benefit of products being reused and recycled.
2) Financial Benefits – Perhaps the most exciting in some places (unfortunately not GTA yet) you can have your deconstruction evaluated by a company that will give you grant that you can put towards your taxes. This coupled with higher appraisal value of the home after renovation creates a true win-win scenario.
3) Charitable Benefits-It is great to give back and by deconstruction you are able supply place like the ReStore the distribution hub for Habitat for Humanity. By donating these items, you are able to help funding Habitat for Humanity homes and therefore help those less privileged which is always a good thing.
4) Community Benefits – By supplying your local contractor you are also helping your community. Many contractors try to give back whether it by doing low-cost renovations or can pass on items like furniture and electronics for those who may be struggling or even able to provide redistribute them in remote areas where it is very difficult to get such items.
At Column and Joist we are strong proponents of deconstructions for all these reasons listed above. Thanks for coming back, until next week be good stay safe.
